Mariposa County, CA
FireReduct is a local defensible space contractor serving rural property owners in Mariposa County and the Sierra Foothills. We create the 100-foot buffer required under California's PRC 4291 — protecting your home, your insurance, and your family.
Defensible space is the buffer zone of cleared and managed vegetation around your home and outbuildings. It gives firefighters room to defend your structure during a wildfire and reduces the chance that embers and flames ignite your property. California law (PRC 4291) requires all property owners in State Responsibility Areas to maintain at least 100 feet of defensible space around every structure.
Zone 0 (0–5 ft) — Ember-Resistant Zone
Remove all combustible materials from directly against the structure: wood piles, mulch, dead plants, debris in gutters and on the roof.
Zone 1 (5–30 ft) — Lean, Clean & Green Zone
Mow grass to 4 inches or less. Remove dead and dying plants. Space out plants and trees so fire cannot travel from one to another.
Zone 2 (30–100 ft) — Reduced Fuel Zone
Mow grass, limb trees up 6 feet, space shrubs, and remove debris. The goal is to slow a fire's spread and reduce flame height.
